I said I wasn't doing SEO, I was just wondering...

Good Conent is a must. I only link to sites that have good content.

btw, just to let the cat out of the bag... I'm making a small PHP search engine. For small or medium sites... anyway I'm debugging the ranking script right now (it's 10 pages long..........)

not at all

If that would be then why Bush's biography page at whitehouse.gov would rank for "failure" ?

Content does have weight but for low competition keywords, Some inbound links can get a site ranked. I don't think "failure" or "miserable failure" is high competition.

I'm with Gazelle dude. Content does matter as long as the keyword has some real competition. Low competition words that no one wants are easy to rank for with inbound links. Just imagine how many bush haters have pointed to that site. No wonder it's in #1.

According to this argument, shouldn't a page with "failure" in the content be number one?
