Florida #2 ?
Googles results just went nuts again.. Searching for our Our Product " Rust Bullet" use to result the top 5 sites as my own various sites and 6-10 was the main office site and a few dealers. As of 2 hours ago EVERYONE is gone. All that is showing is link pages with the words " rust bullet" on them. 15+ dealer sites just vanished from the serch results.. ggrrrrrr
NOW what are they up to..

I just checked one of my sites and the keyword that put me #1 in the SERPs for the past two months now has me nowhere in the top 500?????
I wonder what they are up to this time?

I can't belive all 5 sites went *poof* at once. Ranging from PR0-PR5 sites. None are even in the same class B for IP space and all have differant webpages and not simular. Something is up and I wish I knew what.. It's not like " Rust Bullet" is a very "searched" term or very competitive.

It looks like weight has been placed on base PR of domains. That is, the page in the SERP doesn't need to have high PR itself, but it must be a page on a high PR domain. :
Definate move away from the "exact match" algo. Google seems to be reactionary here - devaluing links which use the same or similar anchor text, and by default being left with some irrelevant SERPs.
A search for Seattle Hosting gives you several unrelated listings in the top ten.
www.pair.com/+Seattle+Hosting&hl=en&ie=UTF-8]Pair Networks is not Seattle based, and doesn't mention "Seattle" anywhere.
www.cityofseattle.net/wto/+Seattle+Hosting&hl=en&ie=UTF-8]This page discusses the Seattle WTO riots - nothing about hosting at all.
This page discusses the Historical Diving Society of Canada.
Those are all from the top ten.

I'm gonna give Google some time to do whatever its doing. Maybe these aren't permanent changes. Hopefully not though

I don't rank that well in alltheweb though
I like allthewebs design better though.
And also, it'll take them a while to beat Google, too many people use it already

WebMasterworld moved the 12 page thread into the supporters forum.
Yeah, like I'm going to pay money to read lots of other webmasters complaining about lost listings.

Good point. It's only some(!) of my newer websites (with no PR label yet) that have gone down the drain (read: disappeared). The odd thing is, only some of the newer sites rank lower. You'd think it would have to apply to all of them.
Silly Google.

I've noticed that in my religion listings I am being beaten by a lot of .edu sites - many of which are now long dead or irrelevant, of course.
Oh - and directories.
The Florida algo changes didn't touch these categories - so my initial suspicion is that a big part of this update involves the wider application of Florida.
Those edu and directories could be indicative therefore of a wider application of an expert system such as Hilltop.

yea. thanks for that rob.. it definately shows clearly that anchor text has lost its weight.. is this change likely to be permanent or temporary?

It looks like the Florida effect is spreading - so I'd note this down as a permanent move.
HOWEVER, also expect the algo to be tweaked down somewhat, to help with relevancy, as Florida was after it was first implmented. Expect Google to wait a few days to take stock of the situation, though.
