In case you were wondering about the Google's Penguin:

...we have not seen an update to Penguin since early December - so for about three months now. Prior to that, it was over a year since we had a Penguin update.

Everyone is talking about the upcoming mobile friendly ranking factor coming up on April 21st for the mobile search results - but what is live already today as a ranking factor in Google mobile search is App Ranking.

Google announced with the mobile-friendly ranking signal that Android Apps will rank better in mobile search, when the user is signed in and has the Android app installed - assuming the app does app indexing.

Putting off that mobile friendly update to the last minute? Maybe you need to put a bit more thought into that strategy?

If you had any doubt how big and "significant" the upcoming mobile-friendly ranking algorithm will be for Google's mobile results, you should remove those doubts now.

Google's Zineb Ait Bahajji, a Webmaster Trends Analyst, said at SMX Munich an hour ago that this algorithm will have a bigger effect than that of Panda or Penguin.

I was checking the keyword phrases people used according to AwStats for one of my sites last night and noticed I was doing very well for some. Guess this might be why:

Over the past few days I've been seeing small chatter here and there about the search results shifting around and changing at Google. But as of last night, that chatter seems to have spiked up a bit to levels of where we may be seeing a new Google algorithmic update.

...we just covered huge chatter around a Google update last Friday but there is no doubt in my mind, Google is testing algorithms maybe around Panda or Penguin or the doorway algorithm is being released or maybe a whole new beast...
