The End of Google?
The Semantic Web (or Web 3.0) promises to “organize the world’s information” in a dramatically more logical way than Google can ever achieve with their current engine design. This is specially true from the point of view of machine comprehension as opposed to human comprehension. The Semantic Web requires the use of a declarative ontological language like OWL to produce domain-specific ontologies that machines can use to reason about information and make new conclusions, not simply match keywords.

See here: http://digg.com/tech_news/Defining_Web_3_0
Full Web 3.0 definition: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Web_3
Web 2.0 is crap. Though Web 3.0 has some potential, I can't see that Web 3.0 is anyhow related with Google's end because Google has enough time to apply modifications in its current design before Web 3.0 creates a problem for it. People started to use a pretty old Java Script concept with a new name (AJAX) with Web 2.0. I've been on the net for years. Can't find any research or white paper that talks about Google's end.
You people should search for the "google epic" video in Google. Google has always came up with something pretty much powerful (different than ALL the other companies). In my own point of view, Google will surely shut down too many BIG companies' online doors in the future.

ROFL nice joke!
MSN is not even close to Yahoo. How can we even try to think about MSN killing Google? lol
Yahoo might be a strong competitor for Google, MSN sucks! Even a kid can bring his site under Top 5 in MSN reading just one or two articles on SEO Chat.

Google needs competition.
All the SE need competition, they continue to develop the top revenue earning niches. Anytime a 'type of site' earns extrordinary revenue and receives rediculous traffic they either outdo them, or buy them. Leaving little room for the little guy to grow slowly. I support them fighting amongst themselves, it helps everyone. We need more of them. Google just bought that site for 1.6 billion, hopefully it becomes a loss. Now my sites are only worth 1-2 million impressions a month so i do my part to support the underdog best I can. Very little of my traffic comes from efforts to be listed in google.

Sounds like a lot of theory with not much substance. In any shape or form it is a long time before any 3.0 web comes about. By the way, I hate the designation Web 2.0, let alone Web 3.0. Just a pet peeve when people generalize iterations of large subjects with some kind of arbitrary designation that is not actually defined, maintained or overseen by anyone in particular.
