Ranking advice please

Does anyone here knows how google compute the pagerank of a site?
Please let me know so that I'll be able to know how, what should I do in order to rank. We are running a new site http://www.lazymovie.com but we still don't have link, I just want to know first the process of computing it before I put some links.

PageRank relies on the uniquely democratic nature of the web by using its vast link structure as an indicator of an individual page's value. In essence, Google interprets a link from page A to page B as a vote, by page A, for page B. But, Google looks at more than the sheer volume of votes, or links a page receives; it also analyzes the page that casts the vote. Votes cast by pages that are themselves "important" weigh more heavily and help to make other pages "important."

Basically they are telling you that it is a combination of the quality and the quantity of your incoming links.

Well PageRank is all about getting links from quality sites the relevancy of the links doesn't matter in this case but when we are talking about rankings then relevancy of the links does matter.
