Google Not Launching Penguin 4.0 This Year
Quote:
Although almost everyone, including Google, expected the Google Penguin algorithm to be revamped and released as Penguin 4.0 this year - that is not going to happen.
I've been pestering Google about this for a while and Google gave me a statement yesterday afternoon saying it ain't going to happen this year. Google told me:
Quote:
With the holidays upon us, it looks like the penguins won't march until next year.

Google Drops Local One-Boxes & Pins From Search Results?
Quote:
Yesterday, Google has reportedly dropped the local one-box results. So when you do a search for a specific business and Google would show you the local box for that business above the web results (not just on the right hand side of the page) - it is gone now. The local results that showed up under the top listing is gone.

Got prepare for the update, you will get good times to go for the sale and drive more traffic as in the holidays sales may go high for you.

Large Influx This Week Of Google Manual Actions?
Anyone get hit with this?
Quote:
There seems to be an unusually large number of manual actions being sent out by Google this week. I am not sure if they busted yet another link network or spam network or if it is just that they are trying to clear out the spam queue before the holidays.

Surely they are removing spams so legitimate sales should be done and good company will get the benefit what they deserve.

Indexing HTTPS pages by default
Some news for those who have not switched to HTTPs yet:
Quote:
...today we'd like to announce that we're adjusting our indexing system to look for more HTTPS pages. Specifically, we’ll start crawling HTTPS equivalents of HTTP pages, even when the former are not linked to from any page. When two URLs from the same domain appear to have the same content but are served over different protocol schemes, we’ll typically choose to index the HTTPS URL if:
•It doesn’t contain insecure dependencies.
•It isn’t blocked from crawling by robots.txt.
•It doesn’t redirect users to or through an insecure HTTP page.
•It doesn’t have a rel="canonical" link to the HTTP page.
•It doesn’t contain a noindex robots meta tag.
•It doesn’t have on-host outlinks to HTTP URLs.
•The sitemaps lists the HTTPS URL, or doesn’t list the HTTP version of the URL
•The server has a valid TLS certificate.
...

Weird! Why would people not have a redirect in place?

Google Search Ranking Update Continue : December 10th Update
Catching up on my reading tonight...
Quote:
Remember the unconfirmed Google update from November 19th? Well, there is speculation that there are still fluctuations around that update that are continuing to roll out...
...The only automated tracking tool that shows a spike on December 10th is from RankRanger, the others don't show much. Mozcast shows on the 12th though...

Google Officially Replaces "Web" Results With "All Results" In Search
Quote:
Last month, Google began testing replacing the "web" link in the search navigation top bar with an "all" link. Well, it looks like it stuck and now every browser on my desktop and mobile device show the "all" link instead of the "web."

Google Search Adds "View on Twitter" To Tweets
Quote:
Google has made a small but significant change to the way they show tweets from Twitter in their search results. They added a blue clickable link to the tweet that reads "View On Twitter."
