I just started putting Google Adsense on my web site, though it's had 8 million hits and I've never before chosen to have advertising on it because I designed it primarily for my students. I actually have a number of subsites on two domains, and many of the pages are for my classes, as I teach a number of different subjects.
After I put the Ad Sense codes on most of the pages related to teaching the Internet and using search engines (which I'm still updating - at
http://www.windweaver.com ), I started averaging about $4 a day from Adsense. So I decided to spend a few days putting up adsense on hundreds of pages of my greek mythology subsite (
http://www.windweaver.com/as/index.htm ), hoping to at least double that amount....especially since those pages get about 100,000 page views a month. But instead of going up, my income stayed the same. I'm getting a lot of clicks on that site, but most are paying 3 cents.......and the value of my other clicks seems to be dropping.
Is this due to smart pricing? Did my overall value decrease because Greek mythology is not a subject that's attracting advertisers? Am I better off taking the Adsense codes off all those pages (and I spent about 15 hours designing them all so they fit in nicely with the pages too!), and off pages that don't attract much traffic? Should I just put Adsense on pages that attract traffic and are worth more to advertisers?
Thanks in advance for any responses.
