Awesome success story Julie. I'm anxious to create a site into a fixed niche that could work off of Google News traffic. My biggest pain is finding multiple writers...

Woo hoo. I made front page for a minute for my coverage of Rumsfeld's resignation. Instantly, 3300 people showed up on my site. 
This is an interesting experiment.

Freakin sweet, how's the revenue from such visitors? I'm not asking how much, I'm asking in comparison...are those visitor converting better or worse than your typical organic?

The conversion rate is a bit higher than normal. I think it has to do with the fact that these visitors are hopping from site to site looking for news..so if they see something in the ads that catches their eyes they click.

Another update: Google News is working out fabulously. It's a great way to get free traffic, and has also increased my earnings.
Yesterday just one of my stories brought in 38,000+ visitors. Yesterday was like my craziest day ever... I got Digg, Netscape, and stumbleupon effects all at once....and just from one story people found on google news.

Not rubbing noses I think its helpful information. Like before I got in there....I never heard anyone say how much, if any traffic, they were able to get from it. I think its interesting.
Have your wife write for you! And yea, multiple pen names!

ooo, real good idea. Never thought about having my wife involved with my online activities. And you know I'm just giving you a hard time, and the info is good to have. |
