Do you have a speculation about when Google will update?
  • Do you think there has been a backlinks update?
  • Do you think there has been a PR update?
  • Are you seeing Google fluctuations?
  • Do you think there has been an algorithm update?

You may want to start with a basic understanding about Google updates before posting in this thread.

Google Organic Results Showing Phone Number & Phone Icon

Anyone seeing the phone number and phone icon in the organic SERPs?
Quote:
Ryan Schilling noticed Google showing a phone icon and phone number under some of the organic mobile search results. He posted a screen shot of it on Twitter. I was not able to replicate it on any of my devices, and I don't think I've ever seen this in the organic results before.

Google Search Update Sign? Seeing Some Early Signs

Anyone notice any changes?
Quote:
In the past 24-hours or so, I've been seeing some early signs of a possible Google update. It might be impacting a limit number of sites or it might be the start of something big. Maybe the early signs of Penguin - wishful thinking?...

...None of the automated tracking tools so significant signs of an update yet either, but they all pretty much missed the last official Panda news.

Nope. Either no movement (same position), or up one, down one. Same old same old - so far.

Google has confirmed it is removing Toolbar PageRank

Quote:
Google has confirmed with Search Engine Land that it is removing Toolbar PageRank. That means that if you are using a tool or a browser that shows you PageRank data from Google, within the next couple weeks it will begin not to show any data at all.

Google explained that the company still uses PageRank data internally within the ranking algorithm, but the external PageRank values shown in the Toolbar are going away completely.

For years and years, Google has stripped away PageRank from their Toolbars and browsers and hasnít updated the PageRank score in it in years.

Why they didn't remove it when they decided to stop updating the toolbar, is beyond me. I guess the wheels on the bus that go round-n-round are turning very slowly over there at G.

Removing of PR is fine besides it's no longer useful.

For the past few years, many were obsessed in getting PR 'coz they believed that having high PR gives them higher in SERP and no matter how you explained to them that PR and SERP have no direct impact in their ranking, they will still insist that they need to get High PR. ;-)

Continuing to make the web more mobile friendly

Those concerned about their mobile traffic from Google will want to prepare for this:
Quote:
Last year, we started using mobile-friendliness as a ranking signal on mobile searches. Today we’re announcing that beginning in May, we’ll start rolling out an update to mobile search results that increases the effect of the ranking signal to help our users find even more pages that are relevant and mobile-friendly...

...remember, the intent of the search query is still a very strong signal — so even if a page with high quality content is not mobile-friendly, it could still rank well if it has great, relevant content....

Early March Update Gone Unnoticed Long Enough

Anyone noticed this?
Quote:
Last week, we reported on a Google update that we suspected started a week or so before. There was some chatter in the SEO communities around an update, as well as some of the automated tracking tools noticed some changes - but overall, the SEO industry was quiet about it....
