Hi Sim,

You should take a look at www.digitalpoint.com

They have a Goolge keyword positioning tool that is free for use (you have to register and have a Google API code - All free)

I use it constantly........

I use it too. It's awesome. In fact, just last week I watched closely as my site dropped from #1 to something beyond 9999. Notwithstanding the self-pity, however, I was also able to track my competitors who also dropped and see the ones who weren't affected. Way cool.

Submitted recently?

If you submitted recently to Google be patient. My site took a few months to get registered and trawled by the bots. At first they just hit your front page and the first hundred lines or so. Then they trawl sub-pages.

Make sure the content towards the top of your index page is relevant. Put many links from your front page to your other pages, and link them back to each other in a good structure. Be patient, don't submit to them again, or they'll put you down the rankings!

I use a tool called 1-ClickRankings, sounds similar to the above. Don't think it's available from the software vendor now, I think they charge and have renamed the product, but I'm sure you can get it on the web somewhere, or via P2P.

On Google, go to "preferences" - select 100 results.

Now it only takes 10 clicks to search the first 1000 returned pages.

(Of course, remember to use "EDIT>>FIND ON THIS PAGE" from your browser menu)

And also try digitalpoint.

i'll just use this topic i started. is it good to have your name show a bunch of useless pages? for example i search for "programmers of 2000" with comma's only way i can see it, and i get about 900 listings of every topic i posted at in this forum, is that good?

Yup, I also lost a whole range of good traffic keywords, but mine was expected. Also gained a few more good ones though. (A little more targeted)
