Indexing Time After Moving to HTTPS

I had a SSL certificate installed on my site on 2/14. I know the amount of time will vary for Google to index the https version but approximately how long should I wait? Only 9 pages have been indexed so far (out of 129) and there isn't any information about links. My site did pass the SSL checker sites I used. Thanks for your insight!

Yes, I added the https version to my Google console, verified it and uploaded a https xml sitemap. My canonical preference is set. All my http information from my www and non www versions of my site has been removed from the console.

How many pages are left to be indexed now ? Today is 26 Feb. Let me know the update.

Will be shifting my 4 year old 1000 page website to https soon.

Were there any changes in the ranking ?

Only 9 pages out of 130 total have been indexed since 2/14. There has been a slight decrease in ranking.

Its weird, your ranking should improve and your website should be indexed within a week.

Okay, did you remove the http : / / yourwebsite.com from the webmasters ?

That could be the problem. You should not remove the http version from google webmasters.

There's an option in webmasters where you tell google that you only want https version of your website to be indexed.

No. I didn't remove the http versions of my site from my Google console. I have 4 versions of my site in the console, with and without www and http and https. I have set my canonical preference.

As I just answered in another post I know that for one of my pages to get indexed it took about two weeks. So I guess one can be lucky and the crawling is within the next few days or might even take 2 weeks or longer.
But I don't know what the maximum intervall might be.

Hi,

Can you see a green tag at the url section mentions as "secure" ? or if you see a exclamation instated of "secure" means you didn't change the link in your site pages, post, images http:// to https:// change all the url to https:// and then submit for crawl from your webmaster.

I'm in the same boat, search console is saying only 5 of my pages have been indexed.

I don't know what else to do! It also isn't picking up all of the search terms people are using to get on the site.

Any suggestions?

My pages look secure when I type in the url in the address bar but they aren't indexed so they show up as www in the search results rather than https. I ran my site through a few https checkers and it passed.

I don't remember which ones I used. If you google "https checker" or "SSL certificate checker" you'll find a few.

I went from having 9 pages indexed yesterday to 53 today (out of 130 total) so it looks like things are moving in the right direction. I don't have any link information yet so I'm wondering about that.

aflat9, did you discover anything?

I have been having a similar issue with one of my clients sites.

Within Google console under the 'site maps' section it is showing 14 pages submitted, only 7 indexed. Conversely to this within the 'index' section I have only one page showing.

The other anomaly is that the site appearance for the https version is showing a homepage that hasn't been present since I first uploaded the original HTTP version. I have since removed the property and then added once more, to no avail.

I have also now removed the http site map under advice from Google, they stated that only one site map should remain once the https version has been verified??? I have not found this necessary previously.

My rankings, as a very new site, were all between page 8 and 15...now they are all page 20+.

All in all its very frustrating and this hasn't happened to any of my 3 dozen or so other sites I own/manage.

Hi, SunEmbroidery

Kindly check your webmaster msgs once & your htaccess files that your all your URLS will redirects with HTTPS:// because after implementing SSL 301 will not work properly you have to update it, After updating the htaccess file check once all your URLs including canonical URL also working in a perfect manner. Google will not consider to index if you having a duplicate with https://www url & https://url.

Make sure your SSL certificate works well! I hope it will work!

My site has now been indexed under https. My site is hosted on a Windows Plesk system so I don't have htaccess file.

When I initially moved to https I added a web.config file as suggested by my host. Then I started receiving internal server errors so my host replaced that file with another file to stop the errors. After receiving help in this forum I went back to my host, asked about the errors file and web.config file, replaced the errors file replaced with the web.confg file and it worked.

I think my problem was that I should have ignored the internal server errors while my host's system was syncing up? (I'm just guessing). Also, my host, GoDaddy, doesn't provide good help. I don't know anything about hosting so its hard to get assistance from them.
