Dramatical drop of CTR - interesting problem!

I have two almost identical music sites:
www.musictodownload.eu
www.freemusictodownload.eu

They always have had very similar AdSense CTR and Revenues.

Few weeks ago I started to exchange links. I have been offering adding link on www.musictodownload.eu (in Links) in turn of placing link to my other site www.freemusictodownload.eu.

Since I have been doing it, I have noticed dramatically drop of my CTR for www.musictodownload.eu. It was earlier about 30% and now (for few weeks) is about 5%. Of course I have more impressions for www.freemusictodownload.eu and almost the same CTR as earlier.

Why have dropped my CTR for www.musictodownload.eu? Could you help me?

Thank you!

Maybe because your visitors who usually existed your site from the google adsense ads now exit on one of link exchanges instead. Its likely to happen especially if the links you exchanged were relevant to the page they were put on. Use google analytics and it should show you where your top exit points are.

Thank You

Perhaps you should put your exchange links on a separate page so as to minimise the losses due to the lack of CTR for your ads.

30% seems to be an awfully high CTR....that's not something that's likely to remain that high for long.

Frankly, I am not convinced that my visitors exit now by links (they are on separate page) instead of AdSense, but of course I can not exclude this as a reason.
I will try to remove my link page for one or two days and check if my CTR will return to earlier level.
