No it doesn't a few weeks ago I switched hosting providers. It didn't cause a single dent in my rankings or PR.

Rankings are assigned on the basis of the domain name and page URLs. I've moved sites between providers more than once, and there's no observable penalty - other than the time waiting for the domain to propagate.

bbqguys

thanks for the reply. I know the google thing has messed everyone up I had the #1 ranking for charcoal grills and electric grills for 3 years on google now they are gone. We have had problems over the past month of our site pages loading a little slower than usual do you think this has also affected my rankings. I must say we panicked and reasearched and rebuilt our sites after studing the top ranked sites our charcoal grill site showed back up at The #2 slot for about 6 hours then its like google taged me again and sent me packing down to 789 I think it was. now all they have is educational, bizrate, shopping.com , news clippings, amazon, Same thing happened on the term electric grills. Thank goodness yahoo is dropping them or some of us guys would starve. Anyhow just thought I would ask the replies i received earlier helped a bunch.

The being dropped is almost certainly a consequence of the recent changes in how Google returns results for a range of search terms. Most people have been hit to some degree or other.
