Pages Indexed but Not Searchable

Hi, I wonder if someone can help me with this question.

Google says it has 173 pages of my site indexed but most of the pages cannot be retreived from a search even if I search the page title itself.

I've copied and pasted the title or the snippet listed in the site:mysite results for numerous pages and no sign of the pages.

Thanks for any help.

Manse,

First of all you have to have more of text content in your pages. you are targetting for highly competitive keyword like 'futures trading' and 'commodity trading', right? First try to guage your competition. Most of the sites which are appearing on the first page for those keywords have a high pagerank with huge number of backlinks.

You can use this tool for checking your own site and your competitors

http://www.linkvendor.com/seo-tools/...opularity.html

It can give you a good idea where you lag in link popularity. You have to get many inbound links with anchor text with your target keywords.

Also instead of targetting on competitive keywords, target on related but little less popular keywords. Overture keyword tool can give you an idea about it.

I'd also suggest you add a blog to your site and write posts with the keywords you want to target in technorati tags. That will increase the number of pages in your website too. Better use wordpres blog with proper optimization techniques. Adding keyword stuffed articles to your site also helps to attract search engines.

Thanks for your advice googlesuccess.

With respect, I am aware of the importance of IBLs and have been building these for a while although Google only shows a handful.

I'm particularly interested in the question I posed about the pages being in the index but not returning for any searches (not even a search for the title or snippet itself).

Any comments?

Thanks again.

Searching the page title will not guarantee your appearance in the first 10 pages. Use some search engine position tool to check whether your domain is in the SERPs.

One reason is that your competitors do better than you, so keep working.

Hi, please note that when you pick some hot keywords, even if you enter the exact page title and search for that, your pages might not appear as the first exact pages results.

When you gradually follow your website design and layout and seo campaigns, search engines will begin giving more weight to your web related searches.
