No PR Update This Month?
The last 2 months we saw backlinks / PR updates the 15th of the month... We haven't had any updates on this with our sites this month yet... Has anyone else seen any recent updates on backlinks / PR?

Good lawd... sure hope we're not going to see a long delay on this again! I've been seeing tons of activity from Google on our site so thought it was about to happen... Google crawls our sites almost daily but these have been the deep crawls going on.
We uploaded our new site www.mississippi-photo-gallery.com AFTER the last PR update so I've getting super impatient to see backlinks / PR updates going on!

Nope, none at all. And to be honest, I hope it will take just a little bit longer, until Googlebot has browsed at least my new main page.
Sorry

LOL! They didn't wait for me last month, dang it! (grinning wickedly here!)
I am sure you already know this, but the fastest way to get Google to index your site is to have incoming links from sites being crawled on a regular basis.

I have links to this site on one of my other sites, which has a PR5 and is visited my Googlebot daily. Still, Googlebot doesn´t visit it.
I somehow have doubts about the <META NAME="robots" content="index, follow, all"> code. Just a feeling. That code isn´t really necessary, is it?

Robots.txt files don't really tell the robots which files to index... they tell them which to stay out of...
As long as you're not telling the robots to stay out, then you're fine.
Here a link to an article I wrote that may help you a little.

I do have a robots.txt file. Thanks for the link though.
But, what about the meta robots tag? Does it work in combination with the robots.txt file, or?

It certainly won't hurt anything. (As long as you're not unknowingly telling the robots to stay out)

I have a new site that has been up for about one month, www.butikknett.no, and google has crawled it in and out many times since release, but the only information that is updated at google is the index page. Is it common that a new site just got the index page updated first? And then the other pages in the site get updated in a "main update"? It just takes so long this time I think. Usually it just takes some few days and it's even more strange when I see all the crawler activity but nothing goes back to the search engine. Getting super impatient to...

Welcome to the forum, Bvent.
Get inbound links. Google isn't going to aggressively crawl your site without inbound links.

Hi Bvent - and welcome!
If Googlebot is spidering the pages in your site then the pages are getting back to Google's index. Are you certain that the site's internal pages are being spidered? Maybe just the index page is being spidered.

Thanks! I have a couple of sites that are quite well visited and I have inbound links from them. Butikknett.no has been crawled from top to bottom twice for several weeks ago and less agressively now and then, but the problem is that only the index page is available in the search engine. I have set up several sites earlier and then it just took a few days from the crawlers first visit until the whole site was indexed. Can the time between crawlers visit and being available in the serach engine vary as much as from a few days up to many weeks?! If that's so I guess everything is normal and I just have to wait.

Google changed the way they do things a few months ago and we are still learning about the changes. If Google is spidering the site, then I'd wait a while before getting too worried. It must be frustrating though.

Yes, I am sure that google has been here several times the last three/four weeks. Here is a bit from 5th of october (this IS a google crawler, or?):
64.68.80.41 crawl23.googlebot.com /trade/productlist/6/
64.68.80.74 crawl24.googlebot.com /trade/productview/7/4/
64.68.80.46 crawl23.googlebot.com /trade/productview/13/6/
64.68.80.17 crawl22.googlebot.com /article/articleview/2
64.68.80.18 crawl22.googlebot.com /trade/productview/13/6/
64.68.80.69 crawl24.googlebot.com /trade/productview/15/5/
My sites are set up with Ez publish as CMS ( www.ez.no) and they have proved search engine friendly, at least up til now. No dynamic urls.

I'm still waiting for Google to update my PR. I started a website a month ago exactly and since then I managed to get about 100 links from many other websites, but Google doesn't update this data.
Does anybody know how long does it take for Google to make the update?
And do you know how often Google makes the update of the data from DMOZ?

There is still no indication that a PageRank Dance has started. It looked like it was going to be a monthly event, and it may still be a monthly event, but it hasn't started yet.
The last I heard, Google hadn't downloaded the DMOZ data for a few months, but it's not unusual for them to go several months without an update. I don't think they ever had a regular directory update in the same way they used to have a monthly dance.
<added>
Incidentally, you can check when the PR and backlinks update is going on by checking the backlinks to a major site - most people check Yahoo! But you need to check the backlinks at all 10 datacenters because it takes time for the change to spread across them, and www won't show the change most of the time. (9 datacenters now that www-sj is down or put out of service)

as far as the PR update is concerned.
Google has already started updating PR/BACKLINKS, but it's just not yet showing. Obviously not everyone's website has been updated with their PR. But starting from Thursday, OCT. 16Th, google had started this update i think. On the weekend i saw lots of new websites on the SERPs in top 10 rankings. This is because those new websites have been crawled by google, PR/BACKLINK has been added, but just is not showing yet in backlinks or toolbar.
I am guessing we would see updated BACKLINKS/PR in the next week or so.
Thanks,
john
