Should I re-submit to google
I started of with http://thehouseoffilm.com, but changed to http://houseoffilm.com after a few months.
So I used a domain pointer (maybe forwarder, can't remember) so that basically, the homepage worked on both 'thehouse' and 'house' but all the links on the homepage were to 'house'.
I didn't see 'house' in google months after submission, and was told it was duplicate content. So I got rid of the pointer and used a 301 php redirect, which just redirects to 'house' if you go to 'thehouse'.
'house' hasn't appeared in google a few weeks after I adopted the 301 and submitted 'house'. Should I re-submit 'house' to google, I just want to check as I remember reading on their page that if you submit more than once they'll ban your domain.
Thanks

I would say do not resubmit your site. it will take time for google to pick up the 301 and index it, so you have to be patient. As long as the redirect is in place you should be fine and you will be picked up eventually. This goes for the other engines as well!

<?
Header( "HTTP/1.1 301 Moved Permanently" );
Header( "Location: http://houseoffilm.com" );

I guess resubmission is not really needed at the moment, after the transfer, just wait to see the results and give Google some time.

Don't re-submit just give it sometime and keep getting inbound links while you wait.

Some good advice right there. If you resubmit google really won't do anything different. Just get some good backlinks and wait. If however you want to get in the SERPs quick use social bookmark sites to submit your site and it should get spidered pretty quick.
Thank You

Just curious... why'd you change it?
I would recommend not resubmitting either. Google will pick it up quickly enough, and there are tons of other marketing things to be thinking about and implementing in the meantime, right?

I changed it because my since it was using a forwarder, two domains had exactly the same content and therefore was duplicate content, and google was listing the one I didn't want.
I'm only 15 and really inexperienced at marketing, this is my first time. Could you suggest other things I should be doing, as I'm having trouble getting any new films.
I have contacted several companies looking for sponsorship for a film competition but haven't got a reply so I guess they aren't interested. I think I need alot more users before they would even be interested.
I'm really stuck, I have asked users at a film forum to upload there film there but they just don't.

I wouldn't resubmit, but I would make sure that I had a google sitemap in place to make sure they are aware of all your "new" pages.

It is a dynamic site, how does a sitemap work when new pages are always added?

That is the best way to go! Also submit your site map to google sitemap service.

If it's dynamic then it may be a little harder. You can try getting maybe some kind of plugin for that script for the sitemap.
Thank You

Or you should re-create it every time your site is updated.
I use this excellent tool: http://www.sitemapdoc.com/Default.aspx
It finds also duplicated page when creating the sitemap.

I agree, the more new content you have, the better. There is no rule that says you can't update your sitemap every day, or even every hours.
On all of the dynamic sites I work with, we actually reproduce the sitemap daily so that google/yahoo/msn always have the most up-to-date information on our pages as possible.

jdog, how many months are we talking about here? I think I can help you get indexed in a few days from now on. Let's give it a try, shall we? Nope, resubmission to google is not necessary. Wait a few days and I'll get back to you.

Why don't you try to bookmark a page of yours in Digg or Del.icio.us.
That can get your site indexed pretty fast.
Or pay $8 for a submission at this web directory http://www.webxperience.org/
That will go very fast. I made that experience already myself.

some guy already bookmarked me in delicious, I found it on google a week or so ago, don't think it's there anymore. It's on delicious though, http://del.icio.us/vishangshah/film
I'm gonna have a look at the directory, if I have an avenue to pay with I'm gonna get it, just a bit hard in Australia.
