The google dance in my opinion is when they send the deepbots to my website. They get to everyones website at a different time but when they reach mine I consider that the dance. Normally during these dances google does and update and changes or tweaks there um um who has the word I am looking for?

The Google Dance is when the SERPs (ranking pages) are updated. This happens pretty frequently - every few days at least.
Really, the term "dance" is from the "Good Old Days" when Google would do nothing for 3 weeks, then suddenly index everything, and at the end of week 4 update the SERPs and backlinks at once.

aah I see, but isnt there a major update all at once? or is this just from olden days, so dance is considered just for your own site? When does page ranks usually update? I've noticed this would usually be around monthly and what not

Dance is really a term I don't see used anymore.
Google does seem to be updating PR and backlinks publicly about once a month - but the SERPS (which are what really matter) are updated pretty much constantly.

No - that's spidering. The SERPs is how the different webpages all rank against each other on the listings for searches.
That's what I mean, though - the "Google Dance" used to be everything more or less updating at once. Now different things update at different times.

I guess the you will recognise the end of google dance when you are getting inconsistent search results.
Google uses several databases and just after the dance, they are not synchronised. I noticed this inconsistency for my terms in repeated searches at the end of the last week - guess it was the dance.
This monday the search results are already consistent.
