Yes John,
I agree on that, But as you know SEO is not taught in a school or college, When an individual or a small company start off they are just beginners in SEO that moment it can also be called an unemployed individual or a jobless company,
The way they grow up is the key to their survival in this industry, SEO is not like any other job like web design, NO one can survive in this industry unless and until they perform, Not only performance is required but consistency of their performance in ranking competitive phrases is the key thing,
People who dont perform and doesnt show consistency will go down to the earth, people who show consistency in ranking will remain,
There are people out their calling professional SEOs and training others some dumb SEO, but the truth is the person or a company who is aware of what is happening today in the SE industry is the key to their success, I know some so called SEO teachers still teaching how to write meta tags( description, keywords, all sorts of bull **** tags), submitting to search engines on a weekly basis  , submitting to 150,000 search engines

etc, It looks too funny right, It happens and is still happening, These people fit in the so called unemployed SEOs seeking some money in SEO,
I dont know what Bob Massa said but what I said is exactly the law of SEO, May be i am more clear than Massa

,
SEO is by itself is a profession only when it is practised with proper consistency,
VIJAY,
