What happens after google comes to my site?

Okay, I just setup a new site this week. I had a site from long ago that was ranked 6/10 on google PR, this site now forwards to my new site... will this help my new site at all?

Next, I have never had a site get listed on google in two years (except the 6/10 site), basically because I didn't know about SEO. This time I tried to optimize the site, which is mostly a forum, and added an auto. sitemap for the forum.

Today I noticed that the googlebot had viewed about 350 of my pages on the forum, etc... so what now? Does this mean that these pages will get listed? My site is www.religiontalk.net and is currently linked on some major sites like fark.com, so I am guessing this will help?

Just wondering how google works after it has found my site.

Welcome to the forums, subigo.

As for your question - Google will find your site if you have crawlable links to it.

You can also auto-submit you index page (only once required):
http://www.google.com/addurl.html

However, as I stated on another thread, Google does not like IPB. If you want forum indexing you need something like phpbb and vBulletin.

I tell you that even though you are a rival to my site:
http://www.comparative-religion.com/forum/index.php

Good luck with it.

lol... just when I think I have an original idea... nice site How long has it been around? Are there any other sites like ours that you know of?

As for IPB, I was told to install the site map mod and google would spider it ( http://www.religiontalk.net/forum/sitemap.php )... will this help?

MAybe the sitemap will do it - I know the last time I checked IPB itself it was only very partially spidered. I used a similar workaround with a sitemap when I used YaBB SE, and that was very poor for indexing.

The comparative-religion forum was actually started in another format in April, but relaunched as comparative-religion.com forums in June. It was a YaBB SE Supermod until August, when I imported it into vBulletin.

And, yes...those original ideas - too many other people have had mine.

There are quite a few different religious forums around - each tends to be extremely different, though. I've tried to make that one extremely neutral to all positions. The site Christian Forums, for example, is obviously not.
