I have a lot of links - I have a lot of off-topic links. If Google is really using any kind of "on-topic" or "expert" linking algo at the moment, then some of my key pages should get fried for their search terms.

That isn't happening now, but they did suffer under the Florida/Austin system. They are getting a boost now. It's almost like the old PageRank system is in play again.

But do you not have any on-topic links? I don't think Google will penalize you for off-topic links. I just think they may give you extra relevance or topical value for on-topic links. I guess the only way to prove this is to throw away all you on-topic links and see what happens to your SERP ranking.

Do you have a site you want to volunteer for this test?
