Old Google Back?

For a while tonight i was getting pre-florida search results? Has anybody else noticed this?

Those results have gone down to some of the data centers (showing on www.google.com for me), and for me, I love them... better than I ever was (even before Florida).

Normal google right now (not www2) is showing better results for me.
In terms of more indexed pages.

Well theres only one difference so far, Im on page 1 for "game previews" on www2, but im #1 on page 2 on www. Still, a decent difference

Could this be the total abandonment of the Expert System?

OR is this only until after the stock flotation? Don;t get too complacent yet.

my rankings have improved slightly, but they are still no where near as good as before the florida update... i don't think this is the 'old' google, otherwise wouldn't my rankings be high again?

I got the scare of a lifetime when I checked my keywords today and couldn't find us ANYWHERE. And we had a ton of top ten and #1 spots. Then it was back to normal a couple of hours later. Then gone again, then back. For the last several hours it's been fine.

Whatever it is, it doens't seem to be permanent - but very weird that it would go back and forth like that.

ok. looked at my stats, getting about 100 less uniques a day now, but I was getting about 75 more uniques a day before the yorkshire update. So their algo is still a little different I'm thinking

I heard in another forum that Google just had 5 new algorithm changes... no one knew what they were of course.

What do you see about these result that suggests that they are not using semantics or an "expert system"?

I think part of the frustration all along has been that many of us thought that we should be well ranked by a "expert system" algo. And the fact that we were nowhere in the first 1000 was very confusing.

I have a site that has just come back very strongly for several search terms that I had been optimizing for. The vast majority of my backlink have always been from relevant or thematic or topical related web sites. So my question for the last 4 month has been if Google is using any of these news tools why wasn't my site doing well?

Now I know from our previous conversations that you had begun to equate "expert Sites" with sites listed in directories. I think that comes from your reading of Hilltop. I have always doubted this because in the first place I'm sure if they are using anything it is Local Rank rather Hilltop. And in the second place inclusion in directories would be a very suspect model. I see it open to all sorts of abuse.

So in conclusion I don't think this latest update proves that they have dropped the topical, semantic tools. I think rather it may mean they finally figured out how to use them.
