My great Google position has gone - any idea why?

My forum for drummers was finally listing at Google in the top ten if a search for "drum forum" was carried out. The forum is here: drum forum. Last week it disappeared from the listings - I stopped looking at the page 10 results.

For the search term "drummer forum" it was number 10 or 11. Now this has slid way down the list.

Have I done something wrong? Has Google had another indiscriminate update that I don't know about? The frustration of finally getting a good listing and then losing it for no reason is just too annoying.

Google are going up and down at the moment, new algos and stuff, alot of people have lost rankings.

Google loves the game of "flux". Keep focusing on your goals, and good seo practices and dont worry to much about watching the serps. You will only drive yourself mad.

OK. I'll take a back seat and watch what happens for a while - I don't want to spend too much time optimizing if everything is in flux. I guess I'll just have to hope the listings rise again.

it will never not be in flux for long. Cover the basics, and be sure to cover them well and you will hold out ok

Your <head> section seems "complicated" compared to this one.
