PR of the back link page

I have seen loads of posts about links from high PR sites. So I thought it would be ideal time to discuss the diference in values of a high PR site (and get some viewpoints on the subject). Especially as many of these links are paid listings!

When I see a high PR site I also consider PR of the page my link will be on. I recently got a link request that offered to place my link on a page that I discovered was orphaned. In this case it had no PR and was worthless.

This also counts for sites that use NOFOLLOW.

But the question is, If you have a PR7 directory and your link would go on a PR2 page, is this as valuable? Would you not be better off with a PR3 link from a PR3 site? Or would you say that "it does not matter that your page is a PR2, as you still are getting the value of a PR7 link"

I am not discussing that it is best to have links from related sites etc. as my aim is to get to specifics of PR on site offering links.

Well a lot of forums have a decent amount of PR but by the time you go through the topic pages to the threads page rank has diminished.

There are many different views on this issue

But I would say here you would get a link only from a PR2 page ( you would get only PR only for that page)

Suppose if you have sitewide link on a website

Then you would get PR only for the home page!
