Registering expired domain name with PR

Hello,

I have a question here, how long will an expired domain name
hold their PR?

I heard that Google will reset their PR in the next update...it's true?

I believe that once the domain is expired & reregister it is true the pagerank dissapears. Also you wont get the benefit of having an "old" domain. I would recommend purchasing it befor eit expires.

My current domain: Worldwide Trading Enterprises Ltd was registered less than a minuite after it expired.

When I do a whois.sc on it http://whois.domaintools.com/worldwidetrading.co.uk the domain shows as being registered in 2006 even though it was registered in 1998 the first time (bummer!).

Anyone care to share their experience?

Thanks.

I've gotten expired domains before and have maintained their PR, and in a couple cases, even raised it on the next update. But I made sure I made an effort to gain more linkage, keep the sites updated, etc.

I would say its a great advantage registering expired domains with PR

when you register a expired domain make sure than it had some good back links that will hold the PR

I have a parked domain which is PR2(downgraded from PR4)

Also I registered another one (PR4)before update it is now also PR4 only

since it got one backlink from a PR4 site

also check the domain at
www.checkpagerank.net to see whether it is a fake pagerank domain!

Many webmasters scam this way... they buy pr4-5 expired domains and after they create sites like milliondollarhomepage or buy pr5 link for $5. I know one who collected almost $5000 this way with some pr6 domain (ex blog, i guess person just quit or mybe died). Thank's god i did not paid him money.

Wouldn't be so sure. If you make good and appriopriate content, as soon as you can, it may keep original PR. Maybe it is worth to try, maybe not.

I have no idea. i used to have domain name "Hotelsofmanhattan dot com". I installed phpNuke and website was dead for 1 year. I linked this site from my other sites and it was pr3. When domain expiered... next day someone bought it, maide nice design, placed content to sell hotel rooms in Manhattan and that's it.... This person build only 5-7 pr0-1 links from directoryes in past 6 month. Traffic still 0. What they expected?

The Real answer is that you should

buy domains only when you have good back links in google

If a domain has good back links then you can buy it!

I bought a PR4 domain www.hao221.com

It got down to PR3 with innerpages PR2 and PR1

You can accomplish keeping the pr and related ibl's if you don't change the whois information. If it goes into an auction... its not as good - you could be totally screwed. You want to get a domain before it expires. If it does expire, and the whois changes...< red flag. Ideally if you can get a domain name from someone who wants to sell it, ask them if they would consider leaving the whois the same for a while. Change the host, and slowly build up content and backlinks. Don't build links fast after receiving the domain because thats really going to throw up some flags. Baby steps. 6 months or so after the purchase change the whois.

The idea is to make the transition seem natural in an effort to avoid raising any potential red flags alerting SE's of an ownership change.

I guess that if you keep the BL the PR should stay. It can be a nice short cut for link building. The key I think is feeding the domain with relevant content, otherwise the BL will dissapear sooner or later.
