MAGIC ACT (Site Vanishing)
I'm sure many of us have had this happen you spend copius amounts of time optimising your site and getting back-links, and more back-links - you also add original content - only to find after some time your site just dissapers from the google..
In my humble opnion, and I've thought this for a while after my dj forum & dance music site started disappearing page by page.. is that it benefits google NOT to
help us,(just theroy) because they know we will pay for adwords. Even better time
to do it, right around the holiday shopping season.
If this is a money making ploy, then it just proves that google is
another greedy corperation - and they know you'll pay because you want
to be seen.
Yahoo Shopping is statisticly the #1 shopping portal on the web. And
if I find Google IS playing dirty to get our money, I'm not going to
pay for adwords.
If I sound pis**d - that doesn't even start to describe my frustration
with Google right now.
Day hasnt started well!!

Some of my pages also dissapeared but:
- I have been warned, since this first happen in an another datacentre not regulary used for searches in our region.
- these pages are of a great SEO value to me, but they are the most freshly added and all of them are at or below the third level hierarchy of the site
- the boots did not spidere these pages for two weeks or so, since they were added for the first time
Thus I do not think that this is a google complot. Rather
A: my site is not important enough to be deeply spidered. Therefore these pages must be moved up in the hierarchy, using the site map if possible
or
B:
This is just the datacentre problem and google is using different datacentre today, which has never been updated with these new pages
I wish I know more about google datacentres and IPS!!

gold dust I love your signature. Preach the gospel! With that said I do not believe in the penatly for adwords theory. I have heard it a few times and I think google would have to be awfully stupid to pull that.
But as I have no proof either way, it is just my opinion

Just one in the bucket of Google raindrops. A lot of people know how you feel GoldDust. Florida really turned the game upside down.
Have you possible done anything to be banned for? Cloaked, mirrored site, etc?

Vanished
I have used no methods at all that would cause my music site to be banned - And I'm very confident it's to do with the google shake up!! - although I know alot of people are having this problem with sites just vanishing from the serps...
I'm going to be patent and sit on this for a while, I have the feeling if I just keep working on the site and ignoring the fact my site has vanished - it may just show up eventually
here's the site in question anyhow: Dance Music - DJ Mixes - DJ Mix

GoldDust, in truth it sounds like nothing more than a Fresh Content boost issue. There is no conspiracy - merely the probability that you haven't optimised enough. Remember, it's links that count as real currency in SEO.

Hi Brian,
I was placed in the top 10 for the whole time my old dance music site was uploaded - and then my site vanished and then I uploaded my new site! so hopefully the new site is optimised effectivly and will show up soon, also I have more backlinks from relervent sites than I had previously when my site was in the top 10! (Strange) I really hope imy site shows up soon, I haven't had one keyword search term show up in my logs... This has not happerned to any other of my sites,
BTW Brian, really appricaite your seo lab site www.seo-lab.com

Are your pages in allinurl:yoursite??
The pages I was talking about at my site dissappeared. So it was no fresh content issue.

Indexed Pages
I know my new index page is showing up but its only indexed - Dance Music - DJ Mixes - DJ Mix I have no traffic at all from this page, even though its showing up in google as listed - and seems like my old site pages that have been deleted are showing up when I search for my site.
& as I said earlier I have more back links than before when i was in the top 20 for my keywords & keyphrases....so i'm still unawares as to why my site will not rank.
Just want to get the site in question back in the rankings.... but seems google & yahoo are not ranking my site - but are crawling my sites new index page & thats it.

Thanks for the clarification, Goldust.
So these are old established pages - have you changed the URLs? Or just the content?
If you've changed the URLs then you'll need to wait for Google to index those new page URLs. Could be a little while, yet.
Really, though, Google has been acting a little stiff - see how things develop over the next ouple of weeks. I can't wait for the next update myself - see some normality returning to Google.

I don't think that Google is leveraging their Ad Words by bringing down rankings. I say this because my rankings have gone up considerably since starting Ad Words...just my 2 cents.

SOMETHING SIMILAR HAPPENED TO ME
For three days I was number one, all of the sudden OVERNIGHT I was kicked off and left behind in the dust.
I spent ungodly hours on my site, with the graphics, and all the copy, plus research...
What bothers me the most is that in google, when I type "latin music dj" the sites that come up first show either hiddent text, cloaking, keyword saturation or any other form of spam/abuse. Yet they rank as number one, couldn't avoid noticing they also show in the "sponsor" section.
I depend on hits to survive, and it is so sad, our livelihoods depend on a robot.
Goldust, I will place your link on my website, I AM IN THE PROCESS OF REDESIGNING MY LINKS for now they are all over. http://www.djryanclark.com/
If you can visit my webpage and render some critique, that would be hella-cool.
THANKS
DJ
