Google Search Quality Decreasing with Time?

Today, i was searching about a problem in Google .. it took more than 20 minute of searching with different keywords/keyphrases to get the required result.

To me clearly there is something wrong going on with Google's algo .. it was more accurate in 2006 than its now.

Though still i think its better than Yahoo!/Live but i would vote for decreasing quality of search result pages.

Interesting, IMO its getting better.

I usually always find what I'm looking for with Google. What I really like are the new local results, the 4 important extra links displayed under older websites, Google music, and the new and improved Google real estate search.

i notice that google update their SERP very slow.
and dead link or pages still appear quit often

The Search Engine Marketers feel scared to go for the rising trend of Java-enabled and flash sites. Moreover, Web 2.0 is also rising up. Just for Google, we just see only old-fashioned websites.

e.g. few days back I was searching for some article for migrane. Google seemed to prefer this old fashioned site. But, through further reading, I found that www.webmd.com is far more informative and useful site than the listed one. Google preferred the first site, just because the later site is interactive and not SEO friendly.

Getting best result from Google requires you to go through 20, 30, 40, and even 50 SERPs. Most of you will agree this with me.

There are obvious biases to old sites, but all in all, the results are getting better. Certainly Google results are way better than MSN and Yahoo!

Overall, I think Google is still the best search engine out there, but I do have problems finding things sometimes.

The funny part to me is that if I am searching for information or research purposes, Google does give better results IMO. The funny part is if I am searching for a site to BUY something, Google SUCKS! I have to wade through a dozen Wikipedia listings and info sites to find a link that will let me find a site to buy what I want. I am beginning to quit using Google if I am ready to purchase. While I am researching for that purchase I use Google.

If it has decreased a bit, which I do not really think, maybe it is because the internet has more bad content websites that use black hat seo for good positioning.

Theres definately room for improvement. But at this point in time, I think its getting better then it was couple years ago. Not so different from last summers algo - but definately better then what you would see on a SERP a few years ago!!! You can tell they {the engineers & programmers} are trying to make things better.

google introduced the nofollow code. a lot of links lost their weight and droped form search results. plus google prefers site that have been around for aa long time.
