Anyone tried this yet? Google Optimizer
Saw this on Slashdot this morning:
"Google has released the third leg of the stool in its quest to dominate online marketing. Google Website Optimizer is a multivariate testing application that allows users to test elements and combinations of elements in a website or landing page. The goal is increased conversions, and of course AdWords market share."

You need to provide your adwords customer ID and name
After this it gives a notice like this

According to their info, this only works if you're an AdWords customer.
Seems pretty darn cool though I must admit.

Definitely looks interesting. Thanks Forsh! I took a look and signed up. We'll see what happens and how much headache it is to setup variations.

Not that great
Its not that great stuff
I have been thorugh its tutorial, basically it tells about your design aspects whcih could optimise your web site performance.
It discusses things like what should be on page e.g; A image, some selling sentenses, Selling text and Call to action buttons or links.
Thats all it discusses about
May be more but thats what i understood before closing the window

If it used right, I'd call that great stuff. It's an opportunity to quickly test and have easily compiled results on minor variations in text, images, colors, layout, etc. and see their effect on conversions! Being able to fine tune your page faster and with better intelligence for conversions is significant!
I think the real key point will be how flexible is the system to try different things and how easy is it to set that up? If it takes days to setup then you really have to have some decent idea of changes you think will make a difference in conversions. But if it is relatively easy to use then you can test lots of quick and small variations to tweak the page for conversions.
I still have to wait a couple days before it is available to me. I'm intrigued!

Then you obviously did not use it correctly. This tool is EXTREMELY powerful.
I wrote about the Google Website optimizer and there are some VERY useful plugins and tutorials listed here
The google website optimizer is a free version of tools that traditionally cost thousands of dollars per month. I know, my company was paying it. If you are serious about squeezing every last cent our of your website, this is the route to take.

This tool is great, I just started using it for my campaigns, I should have results in the next few weeks.
Google is doing all the leg work for you. This type of research use to take months to be able to compare one ad variation from another.
