But wikipedia has also applied "no-follow" tags to its links which has upset the webmasters who were actively contributing in wikipedia so I think there's no way of getting links from WP too.

I've been told by others that Google doesn't always obey its own rule about no follows. I haven't seen any evidence to the contrary yet. Doesn't furl use scripting for their links?

Google wants only quality websites in their top results. Link from Wikipedia which stay for 5 years is the best proof that site is quality and it should to be on top.
If Google don't count links from wikipedia only because they have "nofollow", it mean that they give a big credit to poor content and 100% commercial websites. Google understand it and i bet they make right decisions about it.

I still love Digg to get backlink of my site. Even google indexed faster my posting on Digg than my new site.

Not in my view. Wiki is over-run by link spammers and the editors have no way of removing all the crap, that's why they added the nofollow tag in the first place because with all the spammers (also known as self-proclaimed seo experts) wiki becomes just another link farm.
Really, just have a look at the huge amount of crap sites that are added every single day at wiki just because of the link and you'll see what I mean.
If I was google I wouldn't consider links from wiki per default as 'quality' at all, and the same goes for all those social bookmark sites becausae they all, without exemption, are used by tons of spammers to build links.

Here's a great article about using social bookmarking for traffic:
http://www.earnersblog.com/400-a-mon...cle-marketing/
If you search around, I think he does mention social bookmarking that is effective as backlinks.

Google definately values the links placed in popular social bookmarking sites a lot more than other sites, like directories.
If you can provide a service, or an interesting article, that is worthy of a Digg submission, stumble, etc, you'll get a heavy-weight link.

I think the most important of social bookmarking is to broaden our idea or writting to the world. if we are sure that our stuff (article, software or anything) are usefull, unique, new idea, or jusat new for the world. you will absolutely get credit, for what you have done. People will respect you because your effort to them. And like google guy said " Write usefull. Imagine if there is no google in the world. Would you like to write or share your knowledge? if the answer is yes and i believe many people here will answer yes then we are in the right track for being real enterpreneur "
Like Toyota moto when they train their new member "give better best, never take a rest, always do the best, Till better get the best"

Nofollow links do not do anything regardless of where they come from, if a story get's poular on Digg and get's a few votes then those links will certainly help a sites rankings, however if the story doesn't get any votes and disapeers the link will do little if anything. If social bookmarking links are followed then they can help a sites rankings.

No thinks,
If you not understand the question, how you have the answer.
I hope that you will not used this tactic with your customers and give them anything.
Thinks.
