Inter-linking large sites

Hi,

I have 2 large sites. 1 has 90,300 pages indexed on Google and the other has 22,000 indexed expected to hit 90,000 too.

One is a UK site and the other is a USA site. I have included a link to each site on both pages.

I was wondering if you think that this would have a detrimental effect on my sites. The cause is totally legitimate. But does the Googlebot realise this.

I have slipped a couple notches in the Google listings for a few keywords. Trying to find an explanation.

It is ok to link sites you own. For example Jayde - large network large network with many sites link all theit sites from every single one. They just write in footer "JayDe Network: abc, 123, zzs"
It doesn't affect rankings and it can actually benefit your sites if they have different IP.

After all, Google link their sites
