Google AdWords

I have been checking out the google site find out more about the AdWords program. I'm a bit confused after reading it. I understand that I can set my own budget which isn't much I'm thinking $5 a day. From what I'm understanding each time sometime clicks on my link money is deducted from that $5. What happens if no one clicks on your add at all for the day-do you lost that $5?

Does anyone feel this is a good way to advertise and it brings in a decent ROI?

-You pay only for clicks on your keyword-targeted AdWords ads.
-You pay only for impressions on your site-targeted AdWords ads.

You can turn off site-targeted AdWords ads (Adsense)

Once site-targeted AdWords are switched off, billing is based on clicks only. So, if no one clicks, no payment is owed.

actually i try adwords twice, and i totally disappointed with them.
because the conversion to sales is low. sorry, just dont works for me.

AdWords doesn't generate sales or conversions - that's what landing pages do
