Relevance in Search results.
Google and Windows Live produce fast results, no doubt. But most of the time their results are irrelevant. I just want to ask people around who use search engine, "Which would you prefer most: a faster search engine produce irrelevant results or a slower( taking some time to produce search results) search engine but producing relevant search results?"
I would appreciate if people "not" answer as " i I would prefer both "faster" and "relevant results". I would like people to choose just one answer.

There was a recent article on The NY Times about Google's bouncing rate. A large number of people are disappointed for not finding what they are searching for at Google. After search and search, they just leave. Relevancy is the key to me. Just think if I have to flip through the yellow pages, it is going to take me a long time. So, slower search results won't be pushing me away from search engines.

We are searching SE for something, if it returns irrelevant result than searching is of no use and totally time waste. So in my opnion i will go with slower but relevant search.

Are you trying to develop your own search engine?
If you ask me, I think you do...
Cheers

All major SE's are focussed on providng faster search results with better relevancy just as the users would want. It will take some doing though.
You giving an option of " a faster search engine producing irrelevant results " is a no-brainer really.

thanx for having such a high opinion about indians and why not indians are proving it in many spheres of technology.
As far as creating a search engine of my own........
I'll write about it when the "right" time comes.
so, i think u have got a "slight" hint.

Relevance is not only essential it is the whole basis of the term 'search'
The problem that Google in particular is having is marrying up 'older established sites' that have relevant topics with those in accordance to dated information.
In other words you may have a site that is 6 years or older that has 'relevant pages' related to the site. Yet because of its age and internal pagerank (not the dreaded greenline!) it will still feature outdated information, purerly because it cannot differentiate between 'new updated info' if non is being provided by the site.
So a newer site with more accurate information may well be several pages behind it in search than the older and more established site.

I hardly ever use any of the big three anymore, except for submitting sitemaps to "The Big G" and as soon as that is done I am out of there so fast and then I go to the world's best kept top secret Godzilla Search Monster:
"CLUSTY"
OH MY BIG HAPPY BUDDHA! Clusty TOTALLY smokes any of the big three as it is much faster, it searches deeper and it has a much more user-friendly interface as it is designed to allow users to know in advance more about any link before clicking on it. Yeah, it is really something and I always use it nowadays. It returns all search results in clusters and categories, hence, the name:
"CLUSTY"
"CLUSTY"
"CLUSTY"
