Authority Site Now what?
One of my site was just recognized as a authority site by G00GLE.
What shall I expect now, more traffic from Google? I am really excited.
Thanks.

Wells its good for branding purposes, but you really need to start targeting related keywords to bring traffic to your website

On what do you base this conclusion?

I really do not know why this particular site became authority. I guess tons of back-links including from other authority sites.

When you search for a site name in Google for Authority sites it shows 4 extra links from that site (other than home page). For example search for dmoz and you will see it.

OK. Just checking.
This seems to be a matter of a certain threshold of incoming links. I'm not convinced one can't purchase that threshold... so far.

I do not know how a site achieves this status as I have another site ( www.mingleon.com) which is older with better PR, more back links and that site is not a authority.
Thanks.

It wouldn't be the simple number of links, but number and quality minus any that for various reasons are discounted.

Could you elaborate more on this because when I search for wikipedia I don't get the same extra 4 links.

I understand the idea of authority site, but where did you see G classifying you as an authority site? Webmaster tools? Where?

Does having the 4 most popular pages of the site underneath a listing define a website as an authority?
I always thought it was more of an age thing. Age of domain name.

>>That's the way Google list a site it has classified as Authority.
I always thought it was more of an age thing. Age of domain name.
>> Age and quality back links (I think).

Nonsense. It's not a sign that you have an authority site. Why would you think it is?

That Google link notwithstanding, it doesn't really seem to be dependent on "link structure". Sone of those directories listed are standard phpLD directories with nothing special in terms of URL type or link structure. It seems to have something to do with number and quality of incoming links, perhaps combined with the size of the site.

But I have noticed those sites in question do very well in the Google Rankings. Type in variations of "best web directories" and most of them are listed very early.
