duplicating a website

hello,

i have just purchased a domain, that is much better for my business in terms of seo.

my question is, will google punish for spreading the same website content over two (or more) different domain names ?

thanks for the time.

It's not that big punishment as far as I know, but you might reduce your ranking. Another words, it's better not to use duplicate content.
It's very easy to check if you have duplicates, and for Google it's a piece of cake. By the way, there is a good tool for checking duplicates "copyscape".

Have a great day,
Peter

Duplicate contents site or pages will put your site in supplemental index...

You can't rank high if your pages or site is in supplemental index...

Use 301 redirect if you want to move your website to another domain...

Google or other search engines does not love duplicate contents . If same content is found on established sites then you can not improve site PR . So to make site Search engine friendly the important part is to avoid duplicate content.

It depends what you mean by "spreading the content". If you plan to have the same content on both websites you will be penalized for duplicate content, a fact that Google hates a lot.
