G's ranking shot up after I culled dead webpages.

About a month ago I removed a bunch of pages with content that has been there a long time, and never had any visitors. Dead, useless content. I also removed a directory of "resources" (probably the main reason why I had such positive gains).

So, one month and thirty pages less, I jumped in Googles ranking for my target keyword phrases.

I thought I'd throw that out there.

Thanks for the info. Most people are afraid to remove anything out of fear it'll rock the boat. But, your experience confirms what I've believed for a long time and that's that a pruning of dead wood, much like a plant, will help the health of the site overall.

I wonder if it was letting go of the directory or just updating your content that helped with the climb....
