I agreed with the above two guys...Google had updated backlinks but not PR..

yah! I think by now the update is over! MY blog got PR 1 and my site domain.com/index.php drop from PR 4 to PR 3 but domain.com remain in PR 4.
My site's BL increased of about 200 + BL.
some are bad and some are good!

No it's not over, it must have just now barey started. I have only heard of two people reporting any change. Once it is done, trust me, you will know because many people will report a change.

But there is increased in backlinks

Sheesh.

I run a directory that had ~13,000 backlinks pointing to it; now I'm showing ~4,000. The pagerank hasn't changed for that site yet.

Why did my BL count drop? Did Google weed out some of the domains or something?

Do you have any clue what Google's criteria is for backlink exclusion? I'm almost willing to bet that some of those domains were ones that I used to purchase blog posts about my directories, etc. Now when Google excludes all of that, then it seems to me that there's no lasting point to purchase any kind of links... that means not purchasing links from directories, blogrolls, links on other websites, etc. I mean, if backlinks are not something that lasts, then what's the point of counting them in the first place?

I understand this is for the google updates. Hopefully this isn't off topic too much but how would I find out (before the update) what my pagerank will be after the update?

You can't find out what your rank will be after the update. Online tools exist, but they aren't at all accurate. (I don't know which are worse and which are better, but basically, they aren't any good.)

You just have to wait. I'm hoping my new blog jumps, but who knows?

I used online tools to check the page rank and backlinks and you are right, they aren't accurate at all. We have to wait until when? It is almost second week of August and still there is no update on PR.
