Google Marks Own Blog As Spam
Makes a change, I guess
Quote:

Whoops! We accidentally classified ourselves as spam, and our ever-perceptive Blogger settings caught us. The Custom Search Blog has since been restored, and we’re taking steps to ensure this doesn’t happen with other Google blogs in the future. Other Blogger users can make sure this doesn’t happen to them by reporting any problems to the Blogger support team via the Blogger Help Center at http://www.blogger.com/problem.g. We can then investigate.

How Google can identify which Blog is good or not?
I didn't get it, how Google can see the difference which blog is good and which one is not, to be considered as spam?
Have a great day,
Peter

A good blog that understand the customer wants and write a fresh content that is informative and not harm individual. It is considered not a good blog if its have a duplicate content or copy the article from other blog . While it is considered spam if they submit one article to a lot of social bookmarking site.

"Oooops . . . . there goes our blog guys."
Makes you wonder . . .if they are banning their own blog from Blogger . . .who's other good blogs are suddenly being labeled as spam and being deleted?

I wonder how they can mistake their own blog for spam, with little to no questionable content. Yet, blogger has thousands of splogs stuffed with words like viagra, ciallis, v1agra.. Google really cannot detect these?
Simple rule: Any site that mentions certain key phrases more than say 5 times on the blogs homepage get a human review, more than 10 they're automatically canned with an option to email for a review in the rare case that the blogger is actually a doctor or something. Email spam filters have been scanning for keywords for years are we to believe Googlers cannot come up with away to do this with blogs?

Yeah, you're right, how they could consider their own blog as a spam? But anyone can make mistakes, including Google. But I'm pretty sure if this is a bug they will fix it soon.

I was also wondering, where did you get such statistics like "mentioning certain key phrases 5 times", "10 times", and what is the key phrase means, phrase of one, two, three keywords? Is there any source of such information or it's your guess?
Have a great day,
Peter

Yes anyone can make mistakes, even Google.
As for the sblogs, If you've never seen one most of them have the first page with a 100 or so links to "buy cialias" "buy viarga" "buy soma" "buy oxy" These are nothing but spam blogs and should be deleted. Not to mention probably 90% of those site linked to are scams, you buy yet receive no product.
The # of times for key phrases was just pulled out of thin air so people who are legitimately talking about soma, viagra, and cialis don't get penalized.

Is it not the result of over-doing things??? Like removing spams etc.

Removing spam
Yeah, if Google could easy remove all those spam pages from the web. That sounds not realistically, at least at this time. I know they are working hard, but it's not easy even for Google. The spammers are smart, always improving their technics. And it seams to me, sometimes they look even smarter than Google's professionals.
Have a great day,
Peter

I agree it's not that easy, but they could just apply the same filters they use in Gmail.. Gmail's spam filter is one of the best out there.
It's never easy, they will always get a few false positives but pissing off a couple of people verses having your domain a spam haven isn't too bad. At least, in my eyes.

Does it depend on when the blogs were created?

I think this is too funny! Though, everyone makes mistakes from time to time and it could have just been a software glitch...
