Google vs Yahoo, are they opposite?
Hi everybody,
Wondering, why it happen that way, I have listing by Yahoo almost 3000 thousands backlinks more than at Google (2980 vs 22). My SERP results by major keywords at Google are pretty good, but Yahoo pushed me back no one knows where.
It looks like that small number of backlinks at Google worth more than much much bigger number at Yahoo.
Here is the question, why it happened that way? Where is the logic? What's the number of backlinks should be listed on Yahoo in order to have pretty good SERP there? Any igea?
Have a great day,
Peter

That's understandable, they have different algorythm, but you didn't answer the question, do they (backlinks) have differen value - 3000 Yahoo backlinks worth less than 22 Google backlinks (they give much better SERP results than the bigger number of backlinks at Yahoo)? Any idea?
Have a great day,
Peter

The value that each search engine places on each individual link is a closely guarded secret. The search engines don't want you to know because they don't want you to be able to manipulate the rankings. The back links that they are showing doesn't mean that is all that they are seeing. Do you have an account with Google web master tools where you can really see all your google backlinks?

No. Yahoo and Google backlinks are the same in terms of backlinks....
Google shows only sample of links of sites while Yahoo show almost all your backlinks....
Even if they have different values it doesn't mean it the Yahoo is more worth than Google....They have same worth....

Google lies about your backlinks.
Yahoo gives a more accurate picture.

Folks, Google doesn't lie about their links, they just don't care that much to inform you. Sign up and use Google web master tools and you can see all your backlinks, every one. It apears to be even more accurate than Yahoo because they will show you every page from your web site and who is linked to them.

Heh. So them not telling you what it really is, isn't a lie?
And I'm speaking in regard to checking OTHER person's site links specifically, rather than the google webmaster tools route that you referenced for checking your own site.
Going to have to agree to disagree on this one.
