Google Referrals
Hey,
Anyone have any luck with google referrals?
We typically use the ppc ads, and just starting to place referrals. They have been up for about 2 weeks and we only saw one sale.
Any tips...?

Are you talking from an advertiser or publisher point of view?

As a publisher...
I was trying to see if sticking with regular ppc ads works better than refferals

IMO,
From all referral products (Adsense, Adwords, Picasa, Google Pack, Firefox) of Google,
Google Pack is good for referral.
You should try this only.
because Adwords / Adsense will traget only 1%-2% visiters.
and Adsense / Picasa / Firefox is already widely used.
So, Google pack is best. Also you can have more $/Referral.

Referrals are tough business
The "Google referrals" buttons are quite nice and they easily fit almost any "blank spot" a publisher may have in his or her web properties -but- the payout ratio, if all the online ranting is any indication, is multiples lower than regular "pay-per-click" links, hence the relative unimportance one should give to this "supplemental" revenue source.
Most of the time, even though you'll eventually accrue thousands of clicks on these particular banners, the payout will continue to flatline because, in almost all cases, before a payout can happen, a successful installation needs to happen.
Since people might not install the software right away, there's a very real probability that your initial referral might get "lost in the countless user clicks", perhaps even through some other site's "referral buttons".
I haven't come across one single publisher who states that Google referrals helped pay the rent.
Not a single one...

The new referrals platform has a ton of products and services - it's not the same as the "google pack" plan.

I've seen offers paying upwords of $20 for filling out a lead form.
The Google pack is just one of many options now available.
