Stop submitting to directories - especially to crap ones.
Try to get some quality contextual links and watch what will happen...

So... inbound link from low quality directries would affect your ranking in Google?? Can you give me more information on this? I'm curious, really.

Yes, you could get bad link profile.
Low quality directories usually link to bad neighbourhood and if you wanna be connected with spam sites be free to submit to free directories.
John did a test ...

humm.. i did a few paid directories which have decent PR.. did not check if they were linking to "bad neighbours" but then i guess if they were, then they would not have a good PR in the first place.

If you submit your site to a quality directory, it’s like submitting to 50 of those low quality directories. I would suggest you submit your site to quality directory first and than go after the low quality ones later. Even worst, that some directory are even ban in Google, it won't harm your site but it's a waste of time to submit your site.

Elsewhere...
Just out of curiosity, did the same listing drop you experienced with Google also happen with other major search engines, namely Yahoo! Search and MSN Search?
Perhaps this is just a temporary Google quirk that'll even out in the next "Google dances" to come...

That's true, we have millions of competitors and they are also working like us just to make their site on the first page of SERP.

Thanks a lot. Very interesting. I always thought linking out to bad sites would affect the site but linking in wouldn't affect as much. Obviously it is not the case, is it?

I usually never check for other SE's .. some how i never get more than 2-5% of traffic from other SE's so i dont' care about them.
Well, its been a week now that the site has been dropped.. no news of recovery yet

Hi,
It may be possible in case if you have added a latest news related article or content and may be after you your competitors have done well to outrank you. Dont Worry too much about it as it usually these fluctuations take place because of google dance sometimes so keep on getting some quality inbound links....

Your site is still new, 2 month right?
Dont worry, just focus on link building, have fresh content all the time, and if you have some money to spend, buy a few high pr links at related sites.
Godd luck !!
