This is very a interesting article.

I checked the screenshots and it looks like they plan to allow you to diagnose yourself with this program.

So Google wants to store my health information, my emails, my website analytics, etc., etc.? I don't think George Orwell anticipated big brother coming from the private sector.

Not exactly the private sector. The NSA has people at high places at Google. Matt Cutts being the most high-profiled, but I'm 100% sure there are a lot more. If you think that AT&T are the only ones who submit YOUR data to the US government you'd better wake up. AT&T are only the ones caught red handed that's all.

Thumbs down International coverage...

Does anybody if this "health service" will be internationalized?

From the screenshots, it looks like a "health encyclopedia" coupled with a scrapbook containing health-related personal data.

While it's great to increase the knowledge about one's own health, I fail to see how this will ease up the workload of people working in healthcare.

Surely, more informed patients will take better decisions but won't this just add to the information overload, healthwise?

What's your take on this?

I think this will give people more options and that's a good thing, I recon.
I, myself own a health related website but I don't expect everyone who visits my site to purchase the products I'm promoting. (I wish though. he he) I give as much information as I can for them but it is up to them to decide what to do with these information they gained from my site and other sources. We all look for some kind of information before we make some dicisions, don't we?
Some people like to gain certain knowledge to understand what their doctor said to them, some prefer alternative approach to the health, etc. etc. It all comes down to the individuals.

They can make up their mind about their health situation based on the information they gathered and feel comfortable about it.

For instance it doesn't matter if you shout out loud on TV how bad smoking is for you with so much information, some people still decide to smoke. It is totally up to that particular person.

You can also decide not to read all the information if you choose so or think too much information would confuse you. I think it is nice to have the access to more information for those people who seeks though.

Intersting development from the big 'G', so not only will our google account know everything we look for, we buy, people we communicate and what we are saying to them, it will also know whats wrong with us.

SO does that mean those of us that use our G account will as we get older and sicker more adverts for - 'Google De-aging cream', 'Google - Iam not as old as I feel Mens magazine'.

I think the idea is good, but call me optimistic but how long before G sells out to medical companies or Google health Insurance?

Maybe I have just been around the internet too long?
