Google Proxy Hacking

I was just wondering if anyone had seen or heard anything about 'Google Proxy Hacking'.

If you have a popular, high PR, well ranked site in Google that suddenly disappears from the search results and drops to a PR 0, then this may be happening to you. Check out this article on the subject:

http://www.seofaststart.com/blog/google-proxy-hacking

I would like to hear other opinions on this...

No, I read about this in a newsletter that I subscribe to and was wondering what others thought about the situation.

You know that is a pretty nasty situation to be in. It never ceases to amaze me that this type of thing happens all the time. Pretty sad that people do this to someone.

I've heard/read about it. Its unfortunate that persons would rather spend time trying to cheat someone else, than actually creating good content/ranking on their own.

Most likely this is the only way they can really beat the website and so they resort to these types of tactics. My hope is that these people are caught someday, but that is only hope.

I'm wondering if there is any way to prevent this besides using the PHP codes provided...maybe an ASP version or better yet, one that works with static HTML, but this is very unlikely.

Good point. Sad that we have to look for ways to stop this from happening instead of simply concentrating on building our sites.
