Would pagerank disappear if content is changed?

Hey Guys, i was thinking of redoing content on the home page of one of my sites. Would this cause my pagerank to be gone and the site be considered a new site by google?

PageRank is assigned to the specific URL not to the content.

That's it, I definitely agree.. Changing contents has no effect on PR...

Unless, you change your domain or url address that has effect on PR...

PageRank depends on backlinks. In the short term your backlinks will remain the same after you change your content. Of course if people don't like your new content they may remove their links to it.

A++

Very true, although changing content may have no near future effects, if your content is rubbish backlinks will be removed and PR will fall!

Although if you are removing content for the time being, or improving it! That is fine!

Ok people what about adding new images to your site? Is that ok as far as pagerank is concerned as long as backlinks stay the same?

PageRank involves the quantity and quality (PR) of your incoming links, nothing more.

If you want to change content from your site, I think it doesn't affect your page rank. Page rank is based on the inbound links of your site.

One thing more, you will loose your PR if you let your domain host expire...
