No Page Rank??

We have a fairly new wesbite about online education that we started in June 2007. In fact it is the one in my signature.

To date it does not have any page rank with google. How long will it take to see a change in the rank, we add new content and update it often.

We are in the process of generating traffic and getting quality backlinks (which I understand can be a process)

When should I start to see some changes?

Well you certainly won't get a pagerank in just a month. Google tends to update every 4 months or so, but right now I think its been longer than that. So who knows when! Just keep doing what you're doing, and it'll eventually come. In the meantime, it's nothing to stress over.

Alright, Thats makes sense. Because I see traffic and I see people liking our site so I thought google would like it.

Especially with original content and fresh content.

Well Ill have to let you know who it turns out, hopefully I get a nice rank!!

As google update PR every 3-4 months but that does not mean that you can have PR especially it is a new site. Build more link first and gain some traffics. Wait until the next PR update.

Just because your page rank isn't displayed on your Google tool bar doesn't mean you don't have any page rank. The Google tool bar isn't accurate and hasn't been updated in many months, there are even rumors floating around that Google might do away with the whole tool bar page rank gizmo.

Just wait to the forthcoming update, hopefully you may get PR.

And maybe not. I think that nowdays many people pay extra more attantion for PR. I think that more important things are ranking and visitors from SE.

So how to get the right page rank of the site ?... One of my site shows gray bar now but still ranking high.

I agree, so is this time to say good bye to PR? Is it just a prestige issue or still help in some aspect?

even though in a practical sense PR might not be that important, fact is having a higher PR helps when doing link exchanges with other high PR sites.

i use http://www.checkpagerank.net for doing true page rank checking...I remember when the Google Toolbar reported I had 0 page rank for weeks, even though that site told me I had a PR 3 domain.

Best you can do for now is do some SEO for your site and focus more on link building. The most common ways of getting backlinks are thru social bookmarking, directory submissions, submitting to press release sites, forum sigs, etc. etc.. What's important from an SEO point of view is getting relevant (same niche) and quality (organic / natural) back links. Also having back links to high PR sites helps your site on PR building as well.

On a marketing perspective IMO, having more targetted link backs is very important as these yields the highest conversion rate. In general, the more link backs you have - the more exposure your site gets - the more chances you get traffic from these back links. Best of luck

Build more backlinks, PR is obtained through indexed backlinks.
