acquiring links whether by social networking, select directory submissions (some paid), blog posts is the fastest way for Google to find out about your site. Now having it show up for a specific search phrase - that is another topic all together.

I usually just make a couple of casual posts on top nofollow blogs, and then a couple on some of the bigger dofollow blogs. That's enough to get the spiders going your way. I never submit sites directly to search engines.

1] Quality relevant links. (Can be a few also)
2] Updating the content regularly. (If not daily)
3] Provide links to your site in the signature on decent blogs and forums.
I suppose this should be enough.

to index your site, you should have some backlinks to your site. You can do it by:
- exchange links with indexed web sites.
- participate in forums with your link in the signature.

LOL they should call this the linkback forum.
Google, MSN and Yahoo spiders raw IPs. They crawl all over the place. As soon as a domain is registered they start looking for it (from godaddy, network solutions, etc) an example is this site I put up in a IP trying to hide from the engines until I assigned a domain name to it.
No Luck - look at the third link - Type "vfw central florida" in google or look at the number 3 link here - http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q...a+&btnG=Search (the ip - shame on them.
If you're not indexed correctly you built your site wrong - nothing to do with the spiders, they didn't eat it because it's rotten.....

This is not a miracle. Google normally takes around 10-12 days to Index New Domains. Without submitting to 'em manually.
I have encountered this before with 3 of my Domains.

* Get links, not broken links, you can build backlinks on dofollow blogs, forums etc. If the backlinks are from frequently crawled sites - the bots will find your backlinks and crawl your site too.
* Make Easy HTML navigation
* Update more often.. That make google check your site faster

Remember Video! ...and who owns YouTube!
I shot a video for a friend, posted it on YouTube, and linked it to his previously un-findable website [link removed].
The result was that the video was ranked #1 on Google searches for "apartment mailboxes" within 24 hours, and, it took the website onto Google Page 1 with it!
We're redeveloping the site with new look and feel. The video link is bottom right of the homepage, still keeping us ranked on page 1 for "commercial mailboxes dallas".
BTW, I think this is an excellent forum and I'm glad I found it.

Some times paid traffics are faster than organic...If you have sufficient budget you do PPC and paid text links to improve your site's traffics as well as revenue.
