Google stopped updating paid directories

there is a post around somewhere that I put up a few days ago, google vs paid directories or something, had a webpronews article attached which listed some directories that had been completely removed. if memory serves me correct, it turned into a giant webpronews hate thread lol

Infact google has removed aviva directory from its list and if u see on every directory there will be a link of aviva directory....so the owner lost everythingggggggggg

Well I dont agree it doesn't means whether its a paid directory or a free one it should just provide a quality listing.

Google has not stated anything about directories, it has just said they do not like people selling links simply to pass on PR.

Why are there so many directories? Answer most of them are looking to make money from people chasing PR. The game is now over.

Ive been waiting for this day for a long time where webmasters are checking search for high serp, and directories that are actually doing their job they are payed to do. strong content is the most important thing that a directory posesses.

I checked 100 directories 2 weeks ago, only 3 of the 100 had relevant description tags for their internal pages.

I don't know what u consider an index in google>...what i consider an index is that if u give aviva in google search u should get it on the top but now it comes onm 6th or 7th no. which shows that google has droped its ranking.

And one thing more that this act of google proves that its going to ddeal very badly with paid directories.becoz u know very weell what aviva is???

I personally have never heard of the site, but I am super new, like less than a month on forums and with my own site etc.

I dont know about gives more importance to them, it seems to me he is saying, yeah paid links no worries, long as the site isnt complete **** which cuts out abour 99% of directories, and anyone who is just trying to make a quick buck.

Google is massive and like a massive corproate conglomorate they dont have the time or patience to think of everyone when making decisions or announcements, its not like they will drop V7N or CNN Money etc for selling adds, thats dumb.

I think you've missed this line there in matt's comment; "If there is a fee, what's the purpose of the fee? For a high-quality directory, the fee is primarily for the time/effort for someone to do a genuine evaluation of a url or site". He is moreover emphasizing the importance of paid directories. Link selling and buying and paid inclusion of site in directories both are different things.

This thread is full of misinformation.

Google has not said that they are taking out directories. As a poster notes, they've gone out of their way to clarify which directories they see as being valuable.

I think nobody said that google has given a written statement but we are only sharing our ideas about google aglo.
And being a member of this forum we have the right to discuss anything.So saying that this thread complet misnformative doesn't suits uuuuuu.
And second thing that yet google has not given any statement but if u look over different forums u will see that we r right as every one is giving the same staement ...so get a look over the google updation for paid directories on different forums.And if u allow me i can post live links to those threads on those forums.But i think it will not be a better way as it is against TOS of this forum.THx

It seems to me that everyone, needs to take a chill pill, and understand that being a web directory, bidding directory, niche directory, directory of directory, pixel free or paid or what ever you might submit too will determine the value of your site. There all inbound links to your web site to improve your standings in the search engine. I've been listening to a bunch of babies in this forum talking about paid directories all getting pentalized, and whats the new type of inbound link i should submit too other than directories . Well you as a webmaster will make your own destiny, but web directories just like seach engines in the day are going to be the way to the top by building content, and helping power your http.
Ive noticed lately everyone anouncing what googles going to do with any type directory like they were the brother of the owner , If you were you wouldn't be on v7n talking about it....You would be on ebay selling that information. I guess sometimes its nice to say things you dont know nothing about, but what ive been reading lately in the forums about people being psychic's about paid directories....Let me give you some advice than dont submit them, but dont later that you made the wrong decision.
