Im a paid directory with another couple hundred thousand that are growing in the searches, and your talking about a handful that got pentalized for who knows what , but we do no in googles eyes it wasnt good. As far as the update worry about the serp results not pr. something that doesnt meen anything. Thats most likely why the sites your refering to got pentalized, and it was funny that everyone in the forums were calling these sites the strongest links last yr. Domain age , and serp will tell you how strong a web directory is not pr.

i agree with google policy. they are not banning paid directories or paid link sites. what they are saying are they just don't want paid link site has affect on search engine ranking. in other words they don't want those paid link pages contributing to PR( they ask to use the nofollow tag). if they never implement this biz people with small capital will never have a chance in competing with the big boys.

I use the nofollow tag on some links, however there's a LOT of situations that using it will make the link totally pointless.

Personally, I think a real good solution would be for more people to use ask.com or yahoo.com to search instead of google.

the reason, probably Google is getting pissed with the "Paid Links". People are getting greedy and taking advantage with their PR.

Google should also take care of this, because I don't see the point to pay for a review. They should review shopping site for free, that's some well made link farms for me ;-)

Let's be honest if Google want to go after directories, they should go after more of these kind of fake review sites with PPC farm links if like they say they want to improve quality search for visitors. These sites are not !

Even though the "bad" paid directories list seems to be growing, you can still buy links! Although you cant come right out and say, "Google favors buying links from certain places", there are "certain places" on the approved list, and they include:


· AdBrite
· Quigo
· IndustryBrains
· Microsoft AdCenter
· Yahoo! Publisher Network
· Any site that doesn't pass PageRank

Where have you heard this info?

Matt Cutts stated a while ago that purchasing links in directories with a good editorial process was perfectly fine - and respected by Google.

Google updation got a delay of three months and people were worried about it.But thanks God that google updated at last.
