Fix what?? Thats something that webmasters should pay more attention to, Google correctly see's both url's as different sites. domain.com and www.domain.com dont nescisarrily have to resolve to the same site/content.
If you want to consolidate your PR you should 301 redirect yourdomain.com to www.yourdomain.com

Strange, I knew it did this, but I just went to see my blueuniverse.co.uk without the www out of interest to see what it was and it is the same, with the same amount of backlinks etc. and I don't recall installing any hack thing so they do so.

forums fall victim to this alot, it is called split PR. Alot of forums are under domains and the main amount of traffic goes to the domain, yet the forum scripts link to index.php.
Example: http://www.LinkinParkForums.com and http://www.LinkinParkForums.com/index.php are considered different pages with PR. I modded my forum to prvent this be sending all the index.php links to just / that way almost all of my traffic goes to / not index.php
