changes to sitemaps

My apologies if I'm posting this in the wrong forum. I just recently got my site up. My question is if I make a change to a page or add pages do I need to do a new sitemap? If I do need to do this would I delete the old sitemap and then replace it with the new one? If someone can explain this process to me it would really help. Thanks Steve.

Is this site built by hand or run by a CMS?

If it is run by a CMS, then it might automatically update the sitemap for you. You might have to click on a link to have the program re-generate it for you.

If you hand code the site, then you will have to add the changes to the site map or have a program make you another sitemap. There are many place on the web where you can get a sitemap made for free.

thanks for the reply. I'm new to all this so forgive my ignorance. I don't know what CMS means. I built the site using microsoft expression web, and then used gsitecrawler to build the sitemaps....

You can make a sitemap.xml once for your site. And resubmit/update every time whenever you will add a new page or do any up gradation over there at your site.
