HTML naming, breaking any rules in google?

Hello all just wondering if I'm allowed to do this because I have been thinking of doing it, for example say if I typed in ''weight loss'' in google, google would then search for anything containing those words and will prioritise this by url as well as header and description. I was thinking of duplicating my home page which is a one page sales letter website and call it a different name for example www.example.com/weightloss.html

but that would be the same page as www.example.com

am I allowed to do this?

You are allowed to do this, but the real value comes not from the name itself but when people copy and paste that URL and then use it as a link. In this scenario your link text is equal to the keywords.

i.e.

www.keyword1-keyword2.com

On a resource or links page your link may appear as:

keyword1 keyoword2 - This site is about...

Hence there is an indirect benefit.

Yes, you can create new page www.example.com/weightloss.html. But you should not dublicate home page content! Write new one or rewrite original. Google do not like dublicate content.

yes don't do duplicate content. i have seen site that has a lot of unique content has a very high PR although they haven't got many backlink.
