Ad Placement and General Questions

I've been doing research on the subject and I'm very curious if my site needs an ad at the very top, centered under the header image. I see tons of pretty successful blogs with this format but am wondering if I need the same. I feel it might look like a bit much. I don't want ads scattered all over the place.

Since we're not allowed to post our sites perhaps someone can PM me and take a look.

Also, I have questions related to Adsense. I'm just curious about the ups and downs on there. One day I have 100 clicks and earn x amount and the next I have 100 clicks and earn half as much.

I'm pretty new with all of this and my site/sites are just starting to generate decent traffic (almost 10K a day for all five, about 7K for the main site). I'd like to learn as much as possible. Any suggestions/tips would be helpful.

Your earning amount depends upon the keywords for which the ad has been clicked on your site. Google sends ads matching with keywords for your site. Rates are different and keep on fluctuating for different keywords and so does your earning.

Can you please pm me with your site url. The best thing can also be to see the google guide to optimally place ads on your site. This can be found on google adsense site.
